To ensure that every learner receives proper foundational and professional training, the following eligibility requirements apply for admission to the GLSMI 4-Year Tabla Training Course:
Minimum Age: 8 years and above
(No upper age limit — anyone with passion for rhythm can learn!)
Students below 14 years must have consent from a parent or guardian.
Must have completed basic school education (Class 3 or above).
Should be able to read and write in at least one language — English, Hindi, or Assamese.
No previous experience in tabla or percussion is required for entry into the Foundation Level (Year 1).
Candidates who have already studied tabla or possess prior certificates from Bhatkhande, GLSMI, or other boards may apply for direct admission into higher levels, subject to an audition or evaluation test.
Fill out the GLSMI Tabla Course Admission Form (available online or at the institute).
Attend a basic rhythm and hand coordination test/interview.
Submit the following documents:
Recent passport-size photograph
Copy of valid ID proof (Aadhaar / Birth Certificate / School ID)
Previous music certificate (if applicable)
Classes will be conducted in English, Assamese, or Hindi, as per student convenience.
Students must maintain at least 75% attendance in both theory and practical classes to be eligible for the annual examinations and certification.
Students are encouraged to have their own tabla set for home practice.
(The institute will provide instruments during class sessions if required.)
