Month 2: Fretboard Knowledge & Simple Songs

• Notes on 1st–3rd strings (frets 0–5)

• Simple exercises with two strings

• Songs using open chords (C, G, Em)

Theory Topics:

• Names of open and fretted notes (1st–3rd strings)

• Time signatures (4/4, 3/4)

• Understanding chord charts

Month 3: Basic Chords & Strumming

Practical Topics:

• Chords: C, G, D, A, E, Em

• Downstroke rhythm strumming

• 2-chord/3-chord song practice

Theory Topics:

• Chord construction (major/minor triads)

• Symbols: repeat, sharp, flat, natural

• Introduction to dynamics (p, mf, f)

Month 4: Scales & Performance Practice

Practical Topics:

• C Major scale (1 octave)

• Finger exercises across 4 strings

• One performance piece from syllabus

• Major scale formula (W-W-H-W-W-W-H)

• Intervals (Unison, 2nd, 3rd)

• Rhythmic patterns (reading and writing)

Month 5: Sight Reading & Aural Training

Practical Topics:

• Short sight-reading pieces

• Aural exercises (clap and repeat rhythms)

• Refine performance pieces

Theory Topics:

• Musical terms: tempo, form, dynamics

• Fill-in-the-blanks & multiple choice revision

• Listening practice (identifying high/low, loud/soft)

Month 6: Revision & Mock Exam

Practical Topics:

• Rehearsal of scales, chords, and pieces

• Mock performance exam

• Sight reading & aural test practice

• Practice theory exam

Eligibility Criteria for Grade 1 Guitar Course

1. Age Requirement:
   Minimum 7 years and above. No upper age limit.

2. Prior Qualification:
   Must have successfully completed the Preparatory Level in Guitar from GLSMI or any equivalent recognized music institute.

3. Basic Skills Required:

   • Ability to read basic music notation (staff or TAB).

   • Comfortable with holding the guitar correctly.

   • Can play simple open string melodies or basic finger exercises.

   • Familiarity with 1–2 open chords (C, G, Em preferred).

4. Documents Required for Admission:

   • Copy of Preparatory Certificate (GLSMI or equivalent)

   • One passport-size photo

   • Proof of age (Aadhar Card, School ID, or birth certificate)

5. Admission Process:

   • Submit an admission form (online/offline)

   • Appear for a short practical evaluation (optional, for lateral entries)

   • Pay the applicable course fees
